8 Tales Of Textiles

8 Tales Of Textiles
Preview event -  7-9pm, 1st July
Exhibition runs - 2-24th July. Open weekends 10am-6pm (please check back here on the blog for weekday opening days/times)

Throughout July, we will host a showcase of Heriot Watt Fashion and Textile MA students, featuring work by; Linda Wagner, Kristen Orme, Nancy Mitchinson, Aimi Mackay, Sushmitha Ilango, Neha Pawar, Achimar Nirunpornputta and Flaviya Kaklyugina (Flaviyake). The preview event will feature a selection of work from all 8, after which the artists will exhibit their work in pairs.

2n-3rd July

German textile designer Linda Wagner will show a 'Martial Arts' inspired knit collection, alongside Kristen Orme, who will present work that explores sustainability and reversibility in Knitwear.

9-10th July
Award winning Nancy Mitchinson, with work inspired by the graphic beading of Masai warrior traditional dress. Joining her is Aimi Mackay whose work promises to be 'a rejuvenation of the traditional image of knitwear' through the illusion of visual and tactile perceptions.

16-17th July

Indian born Sushmitha Ilango uses 'khadi' (a traditional hand woven fabric) to explore contrasts between modern and traditional techniques. Also from India, Neha Pawar, who has a background as a commercial artist, will show work that is a culmination of research into traditional motifs and the seemingly unending possibility of pattern within textiles.

23-24th July

Collections by Achimar Nirunpornputta, who describes herself as a 'day dreamer with a Peter Pan syndrome' and Flaviyake (Flaviya Kaklyugina) who believes that 'clothes should create a mood.'
